RO DBT

What is RO DBT?

Do you have treatment resistant depression, anxiety or an eating disorder? Radically Open DBT (dialetical behavioural therapy) addresses maladaptive overcontrol. Dr Karen Li offered the first RO DBT skills classes in Brisbane and Queensland, Australia. Dr Karen Li is a clinical psychologist who has trained in RO DBT as well as other therapeutic techniques.

RO DBT skills class:

Online Zoom group: Tuesdays 6-7.30pm, open to adults (18+). As at 1/1/2021, each module is priced at $300 and includes 6 classes. It is recommended that you complete all 4 modules, but you can complete these in any order.

Adults with external therapists are welcome to attend too.

Each skills group is a closed group meaning that you can only enter the group at the beginning of each module. The first week of each module contains a 5-10 minute introduction section.You are free to invite your family, friends and health care practitioners to attend the introduction section of each module (What is radical openness) so they can understand the treatment better.

•Module A. What is radical openness- family and friend introduction, understanding emotions & how they help us, activating social safety, enhancing openness and social connection, engaging in novel behaviour.

•Module B. What is radical openness- family and friend introduction, understanding overcontrolled coping, why tribes matter, understanding social signalling, mindfulness core skills.

•Module C. What is radical openness- family and friend introduction, letting go of judgemental thinking, saying what we really mean, interpersonal integrity, interpersonal effectiveness, being assertive, using validation to signal social inclusion

•Module D. What is radical openness- family and friend introduction, enhancing social connectedness, learning from corrective feedback, dealing with envy and resentment, dealing with cynicism, bitterness, learning to forgive.

There is a fixed price for each module. There are typically no rebates available for online skills classes but represents a significant savings compared to individual therapy to cover these topics.  You will be provided with all handouts for the entire course. Your package is non-refundable even if you do not attend each class.

COMING SOON

  • Mondays 6-7.30pm, open to adolescents and young adults (13-17). As at 1/1/2021, each teen module is priced at $500 and includes 10 classes. It is recommended that you complete both teen modules, but you can complete these in any order. There is a parent class component every 5 weeks to help parents better understand their over-controlled kids. Teens with outside therapists are welcome to attend.
